別府の伝統工芸である竹編みにちなみ、二本とび八ツ目柄と差し六ツ目柄という竹編みのパターンを組子で表現し、建具として製作しました。
組子の柄にないパターンを製作するということで、パーツの厚みや幅、密度など、何度も試作を重ね、建具にした時に最も美しく見えるよう工夫して製作しています。

Doors are made of Kumiko woodwork modeling on pattern of bamboo weaving; Octagon, Hexagon etc. Bamboo weaving is a traditional crafts in Beppu area and normally it is not used for for Kumiko woodwork. The collaboration of the two traditional crafts came true with a lot of time and effort. There are many prototypes with different scale, density and thickness to find the most beautiful pattern on door surface.
