| The urushi technique was originally created in Tsugaru, Aizu, Yushima, Yamanaka, Hikone, Odawara, and Kagawa prefecture. This technique is unique to these areas and it has a long history in Japan. The urushiwares such as tablewares, teacups, and vases are used in every day life in Japan. There are so many varieties of colors and finishes available but we do not see them on a market because buyers of urushiwares are selecting the same products repeatedly. There are also lower quality lacquerware from overseas which force the craftsmen in Japan to confront the pricing differences of urushi products. | ||||
