| 1. katakum: wooden pieces called "Kata" are assembled together to the chochin form. |
2. Higo maki: finely split bamboo wires "higo" are put along the spiral shaped coil. |
3. Ito kake: thread is coiled around each bamboo wire to reinforce the base. |
4. Koshi bari: 4-5 wires at the top and bottom to be covered with thin sheet of paper to reinforce. |

| 5. Nori zuke: spreading glue onto the surface of the base with brush. |
6. Kami bari: paper is glued down onto the surface of higo structure. |
7. Lazar trim: unnecessary part is trimmed with a lazar blade to make the paper joint discreet. |
8. Finish: the base structure is removed from the chochin and folded. |
